Porto/Schlieren - Zühlke Portugal is further expanding its site in the city of Porto, where it is increasing its workforce from 80 to 130 employees. Zühlke has invested around four million euros in the project to date.

The Portuguese branch of the innovation service provider Zühlke, from Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, is on course for growth, said CEO Mariana Figueiredo Salvaterra in an interview. Three years after its launch in Porto, the site has been upgraded from a development centre to a standard Zühlke office. “A vote of confidence in the team and an increase in commitment to the development of projects from Portugal,” Figueiredo Salvaterra is quoted as saying in the business publication ECO (Economia online).

This is reflected in a strengthening of the team, which is set to grow from the current 80 to up to 130 employees, she continued. “The focus is on specialized teams, which we want to increase by around 45 per cent, with more than 20 vacancies to be filled by the end of the year. We are looking for teams that focus on all phases of the development of a technology project and deliver it from A to Z for the customer,” the CEO is quoted as saying.

Zühlke Portugal is currently recruiting employees in the field of engineering, with a focus on software, platform, and front-end and back-end engineers. Employees will be offered the choice between the traditional five-day working week and a four-day week. “At the same time, we want to invest an additional 35 per cent in salary benefits for our employees to ensure that we continue to have an attractive offer for those who want to grow with us,” according to CEO Figueiredo Salvaterra.

The office in Porto, in which around four million euros have been invested to date, currently employs more than 80 people of 13 nationalities. Forty-four per cent of them are Portuguese, followed by Brazilians and Serbs. Eighteen per cent of employees in the technology sector are women in management positions, according to the ECO interview. ce/gba
