Kone receives top grade for sustainability

Wangen-Brüttisellen - Kone has been awarded the top grade of A for its sustainability efforts in the area of supplier engagement by the environmental organization Carbon Disclosure Project. Kone is additionally the only elevator and escalator builder to make the Clean200 list of the Corporate Knights.

The environmental organization Carbon Disclosure Project has awarded its top grade of A to Kone for its supplier management activities. “We are delighted to be recognized as one of the leaders in supplier engagement in tackling climate change”, as Mikko Korte, Executive Vice President, KONE Supply Chain, explains in a press release issued by the elevator and escalator construction firm. “I'm proud of our capability to transparently reduce and report the emissions of our products over their lifecycle in partnership with our suppliers”, he adds.

Kone has also made the Clean200 list of the Corporate Knights, finishing in 55th place out of a total of 21,000 businesses, as the company explains in the press release. Moreover, the Finnish company with a subsidiary located in Wangen-Brüttisellen in the canton of Zurich is the only elevator and escalator company to make the Clean200 list drawn up by the Canadian media and research company, which focuses on promoting the benefits of a sustainable economy.

Kone is committed to reducing emissions from its own operations by half in comparison with the baseline year of 2018. “Our efforts are also demonstrated in our results”, Korte states, adding that: “In 2022, our Scope 3 emissions per products ordered decreased by 4.7 percent compared to 2021 and by 4.3 percent compared to the 2018 baseline”. ce/hs
