Pardo alla Carriera awarded to Indian star Shah Rukh Khan

Locarno - The Indian star Shah Rukh Khan is to be awarded the Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism at the 77th Locarno Film Festival. The prize is in recognition of his career in Indian cinema, which has seen him feature in more than 100 films.

At the 77th Locarno Film Festival, which runs August 7-17, the Indian actor and film producer Shah Rukh Khan is to be awarded the Pardo alla Carriera prize. This recognizes his impressive career in Indian cinema, covering more than 100 films across a variety of genres, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by the film festival.

The Pardo alla Carriera is made possible with the support of Ascona-Locarno Tourism, according to the Locarno Film Festival website. The destination partner of the Locarno Film Festival is tasked with promoting the development and marketing of tourism at Lake Maggiore and the areas of outstanding natural beauty surrounding it, as the website explains further. The Indian film star will be presented with the award in Piazza Grande in Locarno in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland.

The award ceremony will take place on the evening of Saturday August 10. A popular film from Shah Rukh Khan’s career is to be shown: “Devdas” from 2002. On Sunday, August 11, the public will have an opportunity to meet Shah Rukh Khan in person from 1.30 p.m. in the Forum Spazio Cinema.

Shah Rukh Khan has appeared in more than 100 feature films, musicals, murder mysteries and historical dramas, as the press release states. In 2022, he founded the production company Red Chillies Entertainment in Mumbai together with his wife, who is an important player within the Hindi-language film industry. His numerous accolades include 14 Filmfare Awards and Padma Shri from the Indian government, while Shah Rukh Khan is additionally a member of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and a recipient of the Légion d’Honneur from the French government. ce/gba
